Buick Enclave Steering Shaft Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the intermediate steering shaft on Buick Enclave?
A: A strap attached to the Steering Wheel combined with the locked Steering Column protects the sir system from damage whenever the intermediate Steering Shaft needs replacement. First apply the Steering Wheel to a straight forward position before you lock it. Hoist and raise the vehicle. Take off the intermediate Steering Shaft boot from both ends where it touches the steering gear and upper seal. Detach the intermediary Steering Shaft bolt before you remove the shaft from the steering gear. The next step requires removal of the left side instrument panel insulator panel. Begin by removing the intermediate Steering Shaft bolt attached to the Steering Column before separately removing the intermediate Steering Shaft and extracting the upper seal from its spot. Customers must spread both ends of the Steering Shaft when out of their vehicle to make installation possible. Insert the intermediate Steering Shaft through the vehicle's interior and adhere to the specific fastener instructions. Reinstall the intermediate Steering Shaft bolt at the Steering Column then apply the upper seal back before tightening it to 22 n.m (16 lb ft). Return the left side instrument panel insulator panel for reinstallation. Install the intermediate steering gear and fixed it into position by bolting the intermediate Steering Shaft down while maintaining a torque of 22 n.m (16 lb ft). Before reinstallation check the intermediate Steering Shaft boot for damage and replace it at its original position while securing it to the steering gear and upper seal.
