When replacing the rear compartment lid hinge start by opening the compartment then using a marker to indicate installation points on the lid. First disconnect the rear compartment lid electrical wires before you remove the hinge nuts from both components and the rear compartment struts. Use a grease pencil to draw the hinge placement dots on the quarter panel before assembly. Loosen the bolts that secure the hinge to the rear quarter area and remove the hinge element together. Align the hinge over the grease pencil marks on the quarter panel and install bolts to fix the hinge to the rear part at 25 N.m torque setting or 18 lbft. Reattach both rear compartment struts and their holding nuts as installed. Use an Allen wrench to adjust the rear compartment hinge height setting while turning the rear compartment bumper and manually modifying rear compartment lid bumper height before closing the back compartment.
