Cadillac Catera Brake Line Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line on Cadillac Catera?
A: Before working on the rear brake hose you need to adjust the vehicle into a raised position and properly support it. Use a helper wrench to unscrew the brake pipes 1 and 4 from the rear brake hose maintenance point but do not let the bracket or brake pipe touch from baby to get distorted. After lifting and securely holding the vehicle, detach the brake hose from its mounting brackets by taking off the brake pipe retainers. Put the rear brake hose in the mounting brackets and fasten it with the brake pipe retainers. A secondary wrench must connect brake caliper pipes one and four to the rear brake hose with no bending to occur. Attach the brake lines (numbers 1 and 4) and fasten them to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.) torque before lowering the vehicle for brake system bleeding.
