How to Properly Replace an Automatic Transmission Shifter on Cadillac Eldorado?

Start replacement of the shift control by removing the console trim plate then unsnap the shift cable terminal from the shifter pin. The first step involves disconnecting the automatic transmission shift lock solenoid wire harness connector while also taking out the shifter fasteners which leads to removal of the shifter assembly. Follow the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions when inserting the shifter assembly into the console followed by proper fastener installation at 9 Nm (79 inch lbs.). First install the shift cable onto the shifter control and then connect back the automatic transmission shift lock solenoid wire harness connector before putting on the console trim plate.
