  Q: What tools are required to service and repair the oil pick up/strainer and replace the oil pump on Cadillac SRX?

  A: These tools are needed for servicing the oil pick up/strainer as well as Oil Pump replacement: j 45059 angle meter. J 45059 angle meter. Start with engine front cover removal before uninstalling the bigger-headed retaining bolts (1, 2, 3) securing the Oil Pump assembly. After removing the Oil Pump assembly from the Crankshaft nose using the drive collar in position perform cleaning and visual inspection on the Oil Pump. The first step for installation requires inserting the Oil Pump drive spacer inside the pump with the drive flat facing the rotor. Position the pump on the Crankshaft before installing the retaining bolts. Use pump upward pressure while you tighten retaining bolts one by one beginning with bolt (1) and following with (2) then (3). First tighten the Oil Pump mounting bolts in sequence to 10 n.m (89 lb in) before performing a final tightening step of an additional 35 degrees with the j 45059 angle meter. Set the engine front cover into position.
