  Q: How to replace the Transmission Oil Cooler on Cadillac XLR?

  A: The first step for transmission oil cooler fluid replacement requires vehicle elevation and support. Start by removing the right front fascia closeout panel then disconnect and remove the lower transmission line to the transmission oil cooler (TOC). Next disconnect the radiator from the transmission oil cooler and remove the radiator from the transmission oil cooler system. Remove first the transmission oil cooler retaining bolts then take the transmission oil cooler out of the vehicle. Reinstall the transmission oil cooler into the vehicle then fasten its retaining bolts to 25 N.m torque specification (18 lb ft). The installation process begins by installing the transmission oil cooler retaining bolts as the first step followed by connecting the radiator to TOC Line that goes to the transmission oil cooler after which the lower TOC Line receives attachment. After finishing these steps, reinstall the right front fascia closeout panel before lowering the vehicle and performing a transmission fluid fill.
