Chevrolet Astro Motor And Transmission Mount Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Motor and Transmission Mount on Chevrolet Astro?
A: You must properly elevate your vehicle before beginning the transmission mount replacement process. A transmission jack should support the transmission before the two nuts securing the transmission mount to the transmission support are removed. When the transmission receives sufficient elevation to let the mount rest without support the bolts can be uninstalled from the transmission mount. After increasing the transmission height a little, remove the transmission mount from between the transmission and support before removing the mount from the vehicle. To install the new transmission mount position it first before adding bolts that fasten it to the transmission (for 2WD models) or to the transfer case adapter (AWD models). Tighten each bolt to 47 nm (35 ft. Lbs.) for awd vehicles but 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) for 2wd vehicles. After positioning the transmission you need to fasten its two securing nuts onto the transmission support. Use a torque wrench to reach a tight 40 nm force (30 ft. Lbs.) if you finish all tasks you can remove the transmission jack so you can lower the vehicle.
