  Service and repair of the Shift Interlock Solenoid requires a first step to disable the SIR system. First disconnect the automatic transmission shift lock control actuator electrical connector while removing the lower steering column trim cover. A small screwdriver releases the automatic transmission shift lock control actuator from the steering column jacket assembly after positioning the shift lever clevis in the neutral position. The automatic transmission shift lock control actuator installation process begins when it is properly fixed onto the steering column jacket assembly followed by reconnecting the electrical connector. To adjust the actuator push the tab on the adjuster block side until it springs open. Then press the adjuster block to unclip its teeth before sliding the block as far as you can from the actuator then secure it using tab pressure. The actuator must lock the shift lever clevis into PARK position successfully while the actuator needs to receive power when both the brake pedal is pressed and ignition switch is in the ON position. Set the actuator to the correct position if required and put the lower steering column trim cover back while activating the SIR system.
