To replace the Camshaft, first, remove the grille, then remove the valve lifters, then remove the
Timing Chain and sprocket. Then, take the retainer bolts and retainer off the Camshaft. Put in three 8 -1.25 x 100 mm bolts into the bolt holes in the front of the Camshaft and use as a handle to gently turn and draw the Camshaft out from the engine block. Remove the bolts on the front side of the Camshaft and clean and check the Camshaft. Apply lubricant gm p/n 12345501 (Canadian P/N 992704) to the Camshaft lobes, bearing journals and bearings with all Camshaft journals being handled carefully no damage happens. After doing this, place the 3 8 - 1.25 x 100 mm bolts into the Camshaft threaded bolt holes and insert them in as a handle to delicately place the Camshaft. Remove the front bolts from the Camshaft and then place the Camshaft retainer and bolts, tighten them to a torque of 12 nm (106 inch lbs). Lastly, install the Timing Chain and sprocket as well as the valve lifters,
A/C Condenser, and grille.
