How to replace the water pump on a 4.3L engine on Chevrolet Blazer?

You would first drain the cooling system before replacing the Water Pump on a 4.3l engine. Start by relieving tension on the Water Pump Pulley bolts before you detach the cooling fan assembly with the clutch and the Drive Belt. Unbolt the Water Pump Pulley from its mounting position then remove both pieces. Unclamp the Radiator Hose from the Water Pump and remove it with the radiator outlet hose. After that, unscrew the Water Pump bolts and lift off the Water Pump. Clean the areas on both sides of the Water Pump gaskets before removing them. Install the Water Pump gaskets on the new Water Pump and set it onto the engine base. Apply thread-sealing compound gm p/n 12346004 on the bolts and fit the Water Pump mounting bolts. Torque them to 41 nm (30 ft. Lbs.). Secure the radiator outlet hose to the Water Pump first before putting on the Water Pump Pulley and tightening its bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Drive the belt first then add the fan clutch assembly before filling the radiator cooling system with fluid and searching for leaks.
