Chevrolet Camaro Antenna Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the power antenna mast on Chevrolet Camaro?
A: Start by turning on the Ignition Switch to the on position and enabling the radio reception. Remember the direction of the serrated plastic cable markings to avoid wrong mounting. First remove the Antenna mast then also remove the contact spring before using contact cleaner to clean the contact spring. After extending the plastic cable 30 cm (12 in) you should stop when resistance is felt. Turn the radio off then check that the plastic cable properly retraces itself into the housing while hooking onto the drum housing's gear mechanism. When the plastic cable fails to retract you must turn the cable while continuing the motor operation. Put the contact spring onto the Antenna mast but make sure its flanged end points up. End the inspection of Antenna operation through multiple radio on and off cycles which will enable full mast extension and retraction.
