Chevrolet Cavalier Fuel Tank Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the fuel level sensor in a steel fuel tank on Chevrolet Cavalier?
A: The first step for serving the Fuel Level Sensor in a steel tank requires the execution of the fuel pressure relief procedure to relieve pressure from the fuel system. Service of the steel tank Fuel Level Sensor begins with draining the Fuel Tank before removing both components: the Fuel Tank and modular fuel sender assembly. Remove the Fuel Level Sensor which is connected to the modular fuel sender unit. Install the Fuel Level Sensor by attaching it to the modular fuel sender and afterward reinstall both the fuel sender assembly together with the Fuel Tank. Add fuel into the tank before connecting the negative Battery Cable. To check for fuel leaks you must first turn the Ignition Switch to on for two seconds before going to off for ten seconds and finally returning to on to perform the leak examination.
