How to replace the rear liftgate hinge on Chevrolet Cavalier?

You need to remove the compartment lid first before detaching each wire harness rosebud from the hinge arm. First remove the compartment lid torque rods before taking out the torque rods and rear panel window trim. Take out the three bolts securing the compartment lid hinge and remove the hinge. Set the new hinge in its proper spot following the Fastener Notice recommendations from Service Precautions. Install the three bolts at the hinge and tighten them to 10 N.m (89 lb in). The steps for installation include first putting back the rear panel window trim then installing both the compartment lid torque rods and the compartment lid. Attach the wire harness rosebuds to the hinge arm last and make any needed adjustments to the compartment lid.
