Chevrolet Cavalier Sunroof Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the sunroof cable on Chevrolet Cavalier?
A: The first step to replace the sunroof drive cable is removing the sunroof window. Start by manually guiding the sunroof guides down to their closed position using Sunroof T-Wrench J 38043 inside the motor slot. After that disconnect the sunroof actuator. Remove left and right sunroof cable retaining fasteners from above the vehicle to extract the retainers. Keep the sunroof cable guide tubes in position as you rise the drive cable end from the guide assembly and you will be able to extract the cables from their tubes. Keep cables straight at all times when installing products. When cable kinking happens you must replace the entire pair of cables. The sunroof cables use a flexible sealer at their tray assembly thus maintaining the seal integrity throughout the removal and installation process. Attempt to push sunroof drive cables through the guide tubes with cable tubes in position before engaging the cables into their guide assemblies. The process involves installing cable retainers with the module tray groove receiving the cable housing flair while connecting the sunroof actuator and finishing the installation with the sunroof window.
