Vehicle front seat removal begins with raising power seat adjusters to maximum height and securing the front seat to move it from the vehicle. The next step requires opening the seat back cover enough to expose the recliner mechanism bolts (2, 7) before removing these bolts. Separate the seat back part from the main assembly before you extract the seat cushion which stands on the adjuster mechanism. Remove the handle of the recliner then the power seat adjuster switch when present along with bolts that secure the frame of the seat cushion to its adjuster assembly. Remove j channel seat cushion retainers located on the seat frame then detach the hook and loop strips which connect the cover to the cushion pad before pulling off the cover from the foam pad and taking the foam pad away from the frame. The entire passenger presence system should be replaced as one unit to stop possible injuries because operating with select components leads to improper system functioning. When substituting a front passenger Seat Cushion Pad the complete inflatable restraint passenger presence system demands replacement at the same time. The installation process requires users to remove the perforated segment from the front of the cushion pad before placing the foam pad onto the seat cushion framework and finally attaching the seat cushion cover onto the foam pad . The j channel retainers must be engaged to set the seat cushion cover on the seat cushion frame. A power seat adjuster requires a seat cushion cover replacement where the technician must locate the power
Seat Switch opening inside the bracket through the cover material to make an "x" cut within the opening. To install the power Seat Switch position its opening through the cover while making an "x" cut. Then locate the recliner mechanism rod through the cushion cover before making a small "x" for the rod to pass through before fitting the cover over it. Attach the recliner handle before placing the seat back assembly onto the seat cushion and fasten both bolts (3, 7) with 32 n.m (24 lb ft) torque. Refer the seat assembly to the seat adjuster assembly and bolt the two assemblies together by tightening the bolts to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). The inflatable restraint passenger presence system should be reset whenever the seat cushion or any part of the passenger presence system is disconnected in order to prevent personal injuries.
