    Q:
How to replace the front seat cushion pad and cover on Chevrolet Express 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Vehicle owners should start replacement of the front seat cushion cover and pad by elevating power seat-adjustable seats to their maximum position and after seat removal from the vehicle. After removing the seat back cover you must expose the recliner mechanism bolts at points (2, 7) before removing these bolts. You must detach the seat back component from the seat assembly then disassemble it to remove the seat cushion from the seat adjuster assembly. Next move to remove the recliner handle along with the power seat adjuster switch if present before taking out the bolts that fasten the seat cushion frame to the adjuster assembly. To remove the seat cushion cover the j channel retainers need to be separated from the frame while hook and loop strips must be detached from the connection between pad and cover. First remove the seat cushion cover from the foam pad after which the foam pad should be detached from the cushion frame . Replacement of the passenger presence system needs to happen as a whole assembly because all service kit components function as a calibrated unit. To replace a front passenger Seat Cushion Pad it becomes mandatory to do a complete replacement of its inflatable restraint passenger presence system. Installation requires removal of the perforated front part on the cushion pad followed by foam pad placement on seat cushion frame before applying the seat cushion cover over the foam pad. The j channel retainers should be engaged to fasten the seat cushion cover directly to the seat cushion frame. To perform a power seat-adjustable seat cushion cover replacement you must identify the power switch aperture in the bracket from the inside of the cover before making an interlocking cross-cut within the aperture. Place the recliner mechanism rod through the cushion cover by keeping the "x" cut precisely the size needed for the rod to pass through. Position the cover around the recliner mechanism rod before putting the recliner handle into place. After setting the seat back in position on the seat cushion assembly users must install bolts (3 and 7), torquing each to 32 n.m (24 lb ft). Place the seat assembly to the seat adjuster assembly and use bolts to fasten the assembly before tightening them to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Whenever a seat cushion or part of the passenger presence system is removed the seat must be installed into the vehicle and the system requires re-zeroing to prevent personal injuries since non-compliance may result in system malfunctions.

    Q:
How to Replace a Rear Seat Cushion Pad and Seat Cushion Pad on GMC Savana 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
A mechanic must remove the rear seat from the vehicle as a first step to replace both the rear seat back cushion cover and pad. The first step requires removing the armrest from the seat back together with any present rear seat head restraints. In case the center Seat Belt exists separate the belt from the retractor. Disengage the j channel fastener located at the seat back cover bottom edge and both hook and loop strips holding the seat back cover onto the foam pad. Remove the seat back cover from the foam pad before releasing the two head restraint guides from the seat back frame to remove the cushion cover. Move the foam pad off from the frame that supports the seat back. You need to place the foam pad to the seat back frame first then position the seat back cover onto the foam pad starting at the sides. Follow this procedure to reinstall the guide rails and affect hook-and-loop connection before attaching the j channel fastener. First mount the center Seat Belt before installing the rear seat head restraints followed by the center Seat Belt retractor. To complete the installation you should both reinsert the armrest to the seat back framework and reposition the rear seat into the vehicle.
