Chevrolet Express 2500 A/C Condenser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser in the HVAC system on Chevrolet Express 2500?
A: Starting the condenser replacement process requires the A/C system to be free of refrigerant before proceeding. The HVAC condenser repair procedure begins with grille removal before moving to discharge hose retaining nut removal and discharge hose extraction from the condenser. You need to remove the evaporator hose retaining nut followed by the evaporator hose from the condenser. Use a screwdriver to disconnect the outside air temperature sensor connector then remove the bracket bolt and outside air temperature bracket. Remove all sealing washers from hoses and condenser retaining bolts as you dismount the condenser while applying fittings caps to the condenser. When replacing the condenser add its designated PAG oil amount to the component itself. After pulling the plugs from the condenser fittings users must install new sealing washers before installing the condenser. The condenser retaining bolts should be tightened until they reach 9 N.m (80 lb in). The outside air temperature bracket should be reconnected using its bolt while the outside air temperature sensor electrical connector must be connected. Secure the evaporator hose to the condenser by using the retaining nut and achieve a torque of 16 N.m (12 lb ft). After installing the condenser discharge hose you must tighten its discharge hose nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft). After completing these steps reinstall the grille and evacuate and recharge the A/C system before checking for leaks using the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).
