How to replace the primary and secondary hood latch on Chevrolet Lumina?

The first step to change the hood primary and secondary latch starts by opening the hood and removing the radiator air upper baffle. Start by removing the Hood Latch cover then write marks on the Hood Latch using the grease pencil to indicate its position against the center support bracket. Removing the five bolts from the Hood Latch will separate it from the Hood Latch support where you need to avoid crimping the hood release cable. By squeezing the cable retainer you can detach the hood release cable from the Hood Latch and then remove the Hood Latch from the vehicle. When installing the hood release cable you must first place the cable on the Hood Latch and position it according to the marks on the center support bracket before reattaching it to the Hood Latch support. Install the Hood Latch bolts after which you should torque them at 10 n.m (89 lb in). Reinstall the Hood Latch cover as well as the radiator air upper baffle followed by hood closure.
