Chevrolet Lumina Wiper Motor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the wiper motor on Chevrolet Lumina?
A: In order to replace the Wiper Motor, first of all, it is necessary to take the wiper arms away from the vehicle and air inlet grille panel. Pull out the two retainers and remove the two connectors from the Wiper Motor assembly. Second, uninstall three screws from the vehicle and take out the wiper drive system module. Analyze the Wiper Motor crank arm by first removing it from the wiper transmission with the use of the wiper transmission separator (J 39232); then remove nut and the Wiper Motor crank arm from Wiper Motor assembly. Then, remove three screws, bracket and Wiper Motor assembly from the tube frame. For installation, the use of the wiper transmission installer (J 39529) is required to fix the Wiper Motor assembly and the bracket to the tube frame with three screws and tighten to 12 n.m (106 lb in). Mount the Wiper Motor crank arm, using the nut, tighten to 25 n.m (18 lb ft), then, install Wiper Motor crank arm to the wiper transmission with the help of the j 39529. Replace the wiper drive system module onto the vehicle with three screws, this time sure you tighten them to 12 n.m (106 lb in). Your assembly process will involve connecting the two connectors to the Wiper Motor assembly, installing the two retainers into the connectors and finally re-installing the air inlet grille panel and the car's wiper arms. Check park position for both wiper arms to be wedged into park ramps and verify wipe pattern, to be 55-132 mm (2.17-5.20 in) from the top of driver side Wiper Blade assembly to the edge of the glass to verify the correct park position and outer wipe dimension with wipers at low speed on wet glass.
