Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Classic Pilot Bearing Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: What tools are required to replace the clutch pilot bearing on Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Classic?
A: The replacement of clutch pilot bearings requires three essential tools which are Clutch Pilot Bearing Remover (J 43276), Bushing Installer/Clutch Arbor (J 38836), and Clutch Pilot Bearing Remover tool body (J 43276-1). Start the procedure by taking out the clutch assembly and separate the flywheel spacer if one exists. First place the tool body (J 43276-1) into the clutch pilot bearing through the Clutch Pilot Bearing Remover (J 43276) and lock it in place with a wrench to avoid rotation. Use a clockwise rotation of the J 43276-2 in the J 43276-1 until the clutch pilot bearing completely leaves the crankshaft. The operator must first reverse the J 43276-2 rotation to disengage it from the J 43276-1 before taking out the J 43276-1 from the tool body. The procedure requires disposal of the worn clutch pilot bearing. omove the flywheel spacer before replacement unless it applies to the process. Proposition a 5/8 inch washer onto the Bushing Installer/Clutch Arbor (J 38836) before you attach a newer clutch pilot bearing onto the tool. The Bushing Installer/Clutch Arbor (J 38836) should be used for new clutch pilot bearing installation on the crankshaft followed by a check of proper installation before reintegrating the clutch assembly.
