Starting the repair process of shift solenoids in the 4l60-e/4l65-e/4l70-e automatic transmission requires transmission filter removal. A 1-2 accumulator must be extracted if service requires the pressure control solenoid. Remove all electrical connectors from the transmission fluid pressure switch , 1-2 shift control solenoid , 2-3 shift control solenoid , pressure control solenoid , torque converter clutch pulse width modulation (TCC PWM) solenoid , and 3-2 control solenoid that are integrated within the internal wiring harness. The pressure control solenoid requires removal of its retainer bolt (364A) followed by retainer (378) before the solenoid (377) is detached. After disconnecting the 1-2 Shift Solenoid retainer (395) and solenoid (367A) you should proceed by removing the 2-3 Shift Solenoid retainer (395) and solenoid (367A) followed by the 3-2 control solenoid retainer (395) and its solenoid (394). The 3-2 control solenoid (394) with its retainer (395) should be installed first followed by the 2-3 Shift Solenoid (367A) with its retainer (395) and then the 1-2 Shift Solenoid (367A) with its retainer (395). Place all solenoids within the Valve Body so their electrical connectors face toward the cast section to avoid transmission case mechanical interference. To properly install the pressure control solenoid (377) position its electrical connector into position 1. Install the pressure control solenoid retainer (378) before attaching the retainer bolt (364A) while tightening it to 11 n.m (97 lb in). Reinstall the transmission internal wiring harness electrical connectors to the mentioned devices including the transmission fluid pressure switch , 1-2 shift control solenoid , 2-3 shift control solenoid , pressure control solenoid , tcc pwm solenoid , and 3-2 control solenoid . Reinstall the 1-2 accumulator together with the transmission filter in case of need. A scan tool should be used to reset the transmission adaptive pressure (TAP) values because the
Engine Control Module (ECM), powertrain control module (PCM) or transmission control module (TCM) needs to relearn tap values after the reset and this procedure can impact transmission performance.
