Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Canister Purge Valves Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the canister purge valves on Chevrolet Silverado 3500?
    A:
The first step in replacing the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge solenoid valve is to remove the engine sight shield. The customer can disconnect the evap line from the canister purge solenoid by inserting the large-size white retainer first then pressing it downward to pull up on the tube. First disconnect the evap canister purge solenoid electrical connector then remove its bolt before extracting both the solenoid and insulator. Install the insulator onto the evap canister purge solenoid before putting it into place. In installing the evap canister purge solenoid bolt it is essential to follow the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions and tighten it to 10.5 N.m (93 lb in). At the end of the installation you must first connect the evap canister purge solenoid electrical connector and reinstall the evap line to the canister purge solenoid before installing the engine sight shield.
