Ensure first to raise and support the vehicle so that it is easy to gain access to the Catalytic Converter. Unclip the connection point of the
Oxygen Sensor from the floor reinforcement and take away the Oxygen Sensor clips from the frame. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) retainers and Oxygen Sensor electric connectors. Use the pa15 (1 & 2) to unclip the Oxygen Sensor connectors electrical from the hose clip, transmission crossmember, then use the cpa retainers, and Oxygen Sensor connectors (2 & 1). Take out the left and right exhaust manifold pipe nuts, the exhaust muffler nuts, and then the Catalytic Converter. In case of necessity, remove the oxygen sensors. For installation, if required, install the oxygen sensors, applying anti-seize compound gm p/n 12377953 or equivalent to the threads and tighten them to 42 nm (31 ft. Lbs.). To prevent oil leakage into the exhaust manifolds, apply a coat of plumber black to the surface where they adhere to the cylinder head gasket or the exhaust port gasket. Before installing the Catalytic Converter and the new exhaust manifold pipe seals to the exhaust manifolds, paint the surfaces that contact the head gasket or the exhaust port gasket with a coat of plumber black paint. The right and left exhaust manifold pipe nuts need to be installed until they turn snug and then tighten to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Mount the exhaust muffler nuts and tighten it to 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.). Connect the Oxygen Sensor electrical connectors labeled 1, 2, as well as, the cpa retainers and clip the Oxygen Sensor electrical connectors to hose clip and transmission cross member. Connect the Oxygen Sensor electrical connectors and cpa retainers, put the clip around the engine harness and Oxygen Sensor pigtail, then clip the Oxygen Sensor connection to the floor reinforcement, and then lower the vehicle.
