Chevrolet Tracker Clutch Disc Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the clutch disc on Chevrolet Tracker?
A: The Clutch Disc requires repair and service with a manual transmission removal from the vehicle. Place the manual transmission under the Flywheel holder (J 35271) to stabilize the Flywheel. A universal clutch alignment arbor (J 35271) functions as a support tool for clutch discs during Pressure Plate removal operations. After you have loosened all bolts on the Pressure Plate's cover evenly to release diaphragm spring tension remove the bolts and Pressure Plate assembly from the Flywheel. Remove both the Clutch Disc and universal clutch alignment arbor from the Flywheel before taking out the Flywheel holder (J 35271). Thoroughly clean the Flywheel and Pressure Plate-to-Clutch Disc mating surfaces before examining the Flywheel for signs of cracking and heat checking and grooves and excessive wear while deciding between resurfacing and replacement. A smooth rotation test of the Pilot Bearing requires a new bearing if it does not rotate freely. The installation requires reinstalling the Flywheel when it was previously removed. Install the Flywheel holder (J 35271) for stationary Flywheel support. Use the universal clutch alignment arbor (J 35271) to center and support the Clutch Disc before installing it onto the Flywheel. Tighten six cover bolts to 23 nm (17 ft. Lbs.) while following an even and diagonal pattern for Pressure Plate installation onto the Flywheel. Use the Flywheel holder (J 35271) to remove the universal clutch alignment arbor from the installation position then apply a thin coat of wheel bearing lubricant gm p/n 1051344 or equivalent to both the transmission input shaft splines and clutch Release Bearing. Apply the same lubrication to the Pilot Bearing. Install the manual Transmission Assembly into the vehicle for its final placement.
