How to replace the ABS Control Module on Chevrolet Traverse?

The replacement process for the brake pressure modulator valve must begin with turning off the ignition key for ebcm/ebtcm protective purposes. Uninstall the air cleaner assembly followed by disconnecting the ebcm electrical connector through the unlocking tab procedures. Relieve the master cylinder inlet brake pipe fittings by measuring and securing the capped ends to the bpmv inlet ports for avoiding brake fluid leakage and contamination. The bpmv outlet port requires disconnecting both front and rear brake pipe fittings which need capping and plugging. Safely remove both bpmv bracket nuts then take out the bpmv from the vehicle before removing the two bpmv insulator nuts and washers. Pull the bpmv in an upward direction from its bracket while removing the 2 bpmv insulators for inspection before necessary replacements of both the lower bpmv insulator and any damaged components. Installation requires attaching the 2 bpmv insulators onto the bpmv while assembly process can benefit from the use of denatured alcohol. Position the lower bpmv insulator onto its bracket followed by placing the bpmv onto its bracket while using denatured alcohol as an assistance when needed. The installation involves putting on 2 bpmv insulator washers and nuts which should be tightened to 8 nm (71 lb in) before mounting the bpmv and bracket assembly to the frame rail with 2 bpmv bracket nuts set to 20 nm (15 lb ft). The bsp outlet port rear and front brake pipe connections need 17 nm (13 lb ft) tightness followed by the master cylinder brake pipe fittings attached with 25 nm (18 lb ft). Reconnect the ebcm electrical connector. A brand-new bpmv provides complete fluid contents to both circuits therefore a base bleed process will suffice when the ignition key remains untouched. Empty the brake system hydraulic fluid while executing the diagnostic system check - vehicle. During the diagnostic check inspect the brake pedal feel because the presence of sponginess indicates the primary circuit contains air that needs antilock brake system automated bleed procedure. The last step involves replacing the air cleaner assembly.
