GMC C2500 Headlight Bulb Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Service and Repair the Headlight Bulb on GMC C2500?
A: The service and repair process of the headlamp bulb requires a user to first place the headlamp switch into off position. Handle halogen bulbs gently because they store gas under pressure which creates risk of bulb breakage. After the bulb has cooled down you should turn off the lamp switch before beginning the replacement. Keep the switch in the off position until the entire bulb replacement process is finished. You should protect your eyes at all times while handling the bulb through its base section only and maintain distance from the glass surface. The bulb needs protection from dirt and moisture while proper disposal of old bulbs must be followed along with keeping all halogen bulbs in locations where children cannot access them. The bulb should not have contact with damp objects or be touched because moisture or oil will cause an explosion when it operates; cleaning the bulb with alcohol or a suitable degreaser then drying it should be done if this happens. You should first perform a headlamp replacement procedure and disconnect the electrical connector before turning the bulb assembly counterclockwise to extract it. Avoid installing a high beam bulb by replacing it with another high beam bulb (with part number 12345) which features a red gasket while using a low beam bulb requires part number 67890 that includes a gray tip and yellow gasket beneath. The new bulb must counterclockwise rotation for assembly installation before reconnecting the electrical connector and following the headlamp replacement process to install the headlamp and ending with a test of the headlamp's functionality.
