GMC Jimmy Fuel Pump Strainer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Fuel Pump Strainer on GMC Jimmy?
A: The first step to replace the Fuel Pump Strainer requires disconnecting the negative Battery Cable while performing fuel system pressure relief. Drain your Fuel Tank through the proper procedure before removing both Fuel Tank and fuel sender assembly. Use one hand to stabilize the fuel sender assembly while using the other hand to remove the Fuel Pump Strainer at its noted position and throw away the discarded strainer after examination. The strainer inspection should lead to replacement if found contaminated while Fuel Tank cleaning is required. Installation requires inserting a new Fuel Pump Strainer correctly at its noted position and then inserting it into the bottom of the fuel sender until it reaches full seating. The installation process continues by placing back the restored fuel sender assembly and Fuel Tank then refilling the tank while securing the fuel filler cap. Use a positive clamp to reattach the negative battery terminal before checking for fuel leaks during the check sequence of 2 seconds on then 10 seconds off followed by another on cycle examination for leaks.
