A non-removal of the fuel pump strainer would require disconnection of negative battery cable and release of the fuel system pressure. Empty the fuel tank, take off the fuel tank and the fuel tank sender and record the position of the strainer. Check and change the strainer in case it is contaminated. Install the assembly back in, refill tank and check for leakages.
