    Q: How to Replace A/C Compressor Cut-Out Switches on GMC Safari?
    A: The first step to replace the a/c high pressure switch demands cleaning the system of refrigerant and unmounting the engine cover. You must first clean the surroundings of the a/c high pressure switch before you extract its snap ring. A technician must disconnect the a/c high pressure switch electrical connector which exists at the rear compressor head area. The a/c high pressure switch snap ring can be taken out with the j 5403 (Snap Ring Pliers) and the a/c high pressure switch can be extracted from the compressor after snap ring removal. The j 9553-01 (O-Ring Remover) can be used to remove the a/c high pressure switch cavity's old o-ring seal and you need to inspect both the cavity and o-ring groove for foreign material while cleaning those areas as needed. Place the new o-ring in the switch cavity groove after lubricating it with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil. The procedure requires you to apply the same oil for lubrication on the control switch housing before setting the switch down into the cavity until it reaches its full depth. Install the a/c high pressure switch snap ring through the j 5403 (Snap Ring Pliers) tool by placing its highest point next to the switch housing and ensuring full insertion into the retaining groove. The system needs evacuation and recharging after which components need a leak test using the j 39400-a detector before the engine cover installation.
