GMC Safari A/C Hose Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Rear A/C Hose on GMC Safari?
A: To replace the auxiliary rear evaporator tube, first, recap the refrigerant from the system as well as raise and support the vehicle. It is to remove the auxiliary evaporator rear outlet tube from the auxiliary evaporator outlet side tubes and then the auxiliary evaporator rear inlet tube from the auxiliary evaporator inlet side tubes. Next, take out the bolts that hold the clips to the tubes to body and the nut holding the tube to the auxiliary evaporator module and remove the tube from the auxiliary evaporator module and the seal washers. For installation, first install the seal washers and then install the tube to the auxiliary evaporator module. Take the nut that secures tube to auxiliary evaporator module and tighten to 25 N.m (18lb ft) then take bolts that secure the clips on the tubs onto the body and tighten to 4 N.m (35 lb in). Next, secure the auxiliary evaporator rear inlet tube to the auxiliary evaporator inlet side tube with 27 N.m (20 lb ft) after which come the auxiliary evaporator rear outlet tube to the auxiliary evaporator outlet side tube with 47.5 N.m (35 lb ft). Lastly, bring the vehicle down, evacuate and recharge the system, and do a leak test on the fitting(s) of the repaired or replaced part with Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).
