An equivalent of Transmission Assembly lubricant (J36850) should be applied to the new seal before inserting it into the transmission case. Next insert the new filter inside the case after installing the Oil Pan with a fresh gasket. Prepare the Oil Pan Drain Plug threads by applying gm p/n 12346004 sealant and tighten all transmission case bolts to 11 nm (97 inch lbs.). Trim the top portion before installing the Oil Pan Drain Plug with a torque of 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). After that, lower the vehicle and add dexron(R) iii automatic transmission fluid to reach the correct fluid level.
