When you remove the Catalytic Converter assemble, wear protective goggles and gloves to avoid scratches from rusts and sharpness, also ensure the exhaust system is cool to prevent from being burnt. If needed, apply penetrating oil to the bolt threads to ease removal. Start by lifting the vehicle and supporting the assembly of Catalytic Converter. Unplug the three
Oxygen Sensor and its clips, unfasten the nuts on the
Muffler flange bolts and the
Exhaust Manifold studs from the right and left side of them disconnecting the collars along the way. Next, remove the Catalytic Converter assembly hanger from the Transfer Case and the Catalytic Converter and also remove the assembly from the Muffler and exhaust manifolds without damaging any Oxygen Sensor. To take the assembly down, lower the rear, move it to the rear of the vehicle and rotate it down below the Transfer Case support crossmember. Remove the oxygen sensors from the Catalytic Converter assembly after removal. In the case of installation, all of the parts of the exhaust system should be up to the oem standards to ensure the proper running of a vehicle, inspect to make sure all pieces are aligned; be sure to keep all of the bolts or nuts loosened until things are aligned. Replace any broken hangers, brackets and clamps, and also use new nuts on the Exhaust Pipe to the Exhaust Manifold having first, cleaned the threads of the studs. Mount the oxygen sensors onto Catalytic Converter assembly next, and then raise and turn the assembly into place directing left Exhaust Pipe accordingly. Loosely mount the collars and nuts on both ends to the Exhaust Manifold studs, attach the Exhaust Manifold to the Muffler, and loosely attach the nuts. Mount the Catalytic Converter assembly hanger to the assembly and the Transfer Case. Finally, tighten the Exhaust Manifold nuts following the right sequence, i.e. The Catalytic Converter assembly-Exhaust Manifold nuts must be tightened to 53 nm (39 ft. Lbs.), hanger-transfer case bolts to 55 nm (40 ft. Lbs.), and the assembly-muffler assembly nuts to 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.). Reattach the three Oxygen Sensor electrical connections and clips, remove the support from the Catalytic Converter assembly, and then lower the vehicle.
