  A: The replacement process for the Fuel Pressure Regulator starts with draining the fuel system pressure. The next procedure requires removal of both the upper intake manifold assembly and Fuel Pressure Regulator retainer clip. You should detach the Fuel Pressure Regulator from its housing by twisting and pulling it while simultaneously using a shop towel to absorb any leaking fuel. The first task involves removing the regulator seal lower o-ring followed by the regulator assembly filter and then the regulator seal upper o-ring and finally the regulator seal back up ring. Protect the Fuel Pressure Regulator housing with covering material while discarding all o-rings. Inspection of the regulator's filter screen must be done for contamination before deciding to replace the regulator. Apply engine oil to your new rings before installing the regulator seal back up ring followed by the regulator seal upper o-ring and the regulator assembly filter and completing with the regulator seal lower o-ring. Position the vacuum tube downwards while inserting the regulator into the retainer clip and complete installation of the Fuel Pressure Regulator retainer clip. After reinstalling the upper manifold component set the negative battery connection in place. Perform a leak check by enabling the ignition system with the engine in off position for 2 seconds then disabling it for 10 seconds followed by another ignition turn-on with the engine inactive and verify fuel leakage. Finally, install the engine cover.
