    Q: How to replace the Idle Control Valve on GMC Safari?
    A: Begin the Idle Control Valve replacement process by turning ignition OFF followed by removing the engine cover. Disconnect the Idle Control Valve harness connector before removing the Idle Control Valve fasteners and fasteners. The worm drive threads on the Idle Control Valve pintle remain safe when you avoid pulling or pushing forces on them. Additionally, you must never submerge the Idle Control Valve into any liquid cleaner or solvent. Untie the Idle Control Valve assembly and O-ring seal from the system. Use carburetor cleaner and a parts cleaning brush to remove carbon from the Idle Control Valve O-ring sealing surface and air passage while the pintle valve seat needs cleaning with carburetor cleaner until methyl ethyl ketone is eliminated. Check the Idle Control Valve O-ring for signs of damage like cuts or cracks or deformation before replacing it with a new one. The installation of new Idle Control Valves must use specific components which match the original due to application-dependent pintle diameters and shapes. Measure the distance between the Idle Control Valve pintle tip and the mounting flange; repeat the measurement using only finger pressure if the reading exceeds 1.10 imperial inches while avoiding damage to the valve. Clean engine oil serves to lubricate the Idle Control Valve O-ring before setting the valve assembly into position with its fasteners tightened to 3 N.m (27 lb in). Reattach the Idle Control Valve harness connector before reinstalling the engine cover. Turn ON the ignition for 5 seconds while the engine remains off followed by 10 seconds of turning off ignition before starting the engine to check proper idle speed.
