GMC Safari Wiper Pivot Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the Wiper Pivot linkage on GMC Safari?
    A:
First remove both wiper arms and the air inlet grille panel to work safely on the Wiper Motor linkage. Insert the wiper transmission separator part number j 39232 to disconnect the drive link from the Wiper Motor. Remove the transmission to cowl nuts and pull the wiper transmission from the top cowl access points. Put the wiper transmission in place first and attach it with cowl nuts before tightening them to 14 n.m (10 lb ft). Make sure the wiper transmission engages with the crank arm beyond the second detent before sliding it to a height of 1.0 inch where you can put lithium-based lubricant inside the socket before installation. Use the wiper transmission installer (part J 39529) to join the transmission drive link to the Wiper Motor crank arm and reinstall the air inlet grille panel with the wiper arms.
