  A: The first step to work on a Shift Interlock Solenoid requires disabling the SIR system. First place the shift lever clevis into neutral position before uninstalling the knee bolster. First cut the electrical connector before you put a screwdriver to gradually separate the A/T shift lock control actuator from the steering column jacket assembly and the cable shift cam assembly before extracting the component. You should first connect the electrical connector but afterward properly fit the A/T shift lock control actuator on the steering column jacket assembly and the cable shift cam assembly before locking the electrical connector back into place. To adjust the shift lever clevis position set the clevis to neutral before extending the tab on the adjuster block side then compressing the internal spring by pressing on the adjuster block until the clevis block reaches its farthest point outside the actuator and finally lock the install using the tab. Verify that the actuator locks the clevis in park mode and allows park exit when applying the brake pedal and stays energized. Check the actuator positioning before you return the knee bolster and activate the SIR system.
