GMC Savana 2500 A/C Condenser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on GMC Savana 2500?
A: The replacement of air conditioning condensers begins with recovering the A/C system's refrigerant. Start by taking off the grille before you disconnect the discharge hose retaining nut and remove both the discharge hose and condenser. Next step is to unlink the evaporator hose retaining nut and the hose. Start by disconnecting the electrical connector from the outside air temperature sensor then remove the outside air temperature bracket bolt before you can remove the bracket. Washers must be removed from both hoses and condenser retaining bolts just prior to condenser removal while you secure the condenser fittings with plugs. For new condenser installation add PAG oil to the specified level inside the device before clearing both condenser fittings with plugs to install fresh sealing washers. Tighten all condenser retaining bolts to reach 9 Nm (80 lb in) torque spec. Reconnect the outside air temperature bracket along with its bolt before connecting the sensor's electrical wiring. Install the evaporator hose to the condenser by tightening the retaining nut to 16 Nm (12 lb ft) followed by the discharge hose with its nut torqued to the same 16 Nm (12 lb ft). The final procedure requires unitizing the grille before performing an evacuation on the A/C system followed by recharging and conducting a leak test on fittings through the J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector.
