To carry out the service and repair of the steering linkage, specifically for the inner tie rod replacement; raise the vehicle and remove an engine protection shield if there are one available. Next, remove the outer Tie Rod End, and then inner tie rod wrench (J 34028) with the inner Tie Rod End. Before the new tie rod ends can be installed, all oil, grease, or other contaminant must be cleaned, the threads of the tie rod must be cleaned with denatured alcohol or the equivalent, cleared of all substance and allowed to become dry. Lubricate the threads of the inner tie rod using red loctite threadlocker (GM P/N 12345493, Canadian P/N 10953488). Install the inner tie rod to the relay rod and tighten it using inner tie rod wrench (J34028) to 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.). Then, set the outer Tie Rod End, reinstall the engine protection shield if so, lower the vehicle, and ensure its wheel alignment.
