GMC Sierra 1500 Flywheel Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the automatic transmission Flywheel on GMC Sierra 1500?
A: The first step to replace an automatic transmission flex plate requires removing the transmission while recording engine Flywheel position prior to its removal. Take out all Flywheel bolts followed by the removal of the Flywheel. Two m11x1.5 mm bolts should be inserted into the threaded holes of the spacer before spinning them clockwise to detach the spacer from the Crankshaft rear. Apply longer Flywheel bolts when installing the spacer on Crankshaft assembly only if a spacer is currently in place. Install the Flywheel to the Crankshaft while applying threadlock to the Flywheel bolts according to specified part number for adhesives, fluids, and lubricants, sealers. Use the correct sequence when tightening the Flywheel bolts by applying 20 nm (15 lb ft) force first followed by 50 nm (37 lb ft) and finally reaching 100 nm (74 lb ft). The automatic transmission should go back into place after this process.
