How to replace the timing chain tensioner on GMC Terrain?

Start the replacement process of the Timing Chain Tensioner by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable first. The installation process begins with the camshaft cover and then moves to the Timing Chain Tensioner before sealing the tensioner. Inspect the Timing Chain Tensioner for damage then replace the tensioner with new parts when needed. Measure the length of the Timing Chain Tensioner assembly before purchase. The replacement tensioner must arrive in the compressed non-active state with dimensions of 72 mm (2.83 in) from end to end but will extend to 85 mm (3.35 in) when active. When the tensioner exists in an uncompressed state attach the en-45027-2 (tool) to a vise before inserting the Piston assembly notch end into the tool. The en-45027-1 (tool) rotates the ratchet cylinder into the Piston position. Check the tensioner body bore for signs of dirt as well as damage and debris. Replace the tensioner with a new one after cleaning it with a lint-free cloth when you detect damage. Reposition the compressed Piston assembly inside the Timing Chain Tensioner body to reach its stopping point at the bottom of the bore without forcing it against the bottom surface. A proper tensioner length should be 72 mm (2.83 in) when the tool measures end to end. Every time measurements deviate from specifications repeat all preceding installation steps. All debris and dirt must be cleaned out of the Timing Chain Tensioner threaded hole which penetrates through the cylinder head. Secure the Timing Chain Tensioner assembly with 75 nm (55 lb ft) torque. The Timing Chain Tensioner requires a suitable compression tool with a rubber tip to lower 2 mm (0.079 in) before administering a diagonal downwards jolt through the cam drive chest until the tool rests on the cam chain. Next install the camshaft cover followed by reattaching the negative Battery Cable.
