Q: How to replace the Turn Signal Switch on GMC Yukon?
A:
The first step for replacing a turn signal switch requires turning off the SIR system. Before working on the steering column wire harness assembly you must detach its abrasion sleeve's connector yet keep track of this part for reinstallation. Disconnect the wire harness assembly (Wire Harness Assembly) from the wire harness strap (Wire Harness Strap) before disassembling the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly connector from the SIR system coil connector. Pull out the Turn Signal and Multifunction Switch Assembly connectors from their position within the Bulkhead Connector. Extract the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (Turn Signal and Multifunction Switch Assembly) from the steering column tilt head assembly by removing two pan head tapping screws (Pan Head Tapping Screw). When installing the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (Turn Signal and Multifunction Switch Assembly) position it on the steering column tilt head assembly so the electrical contact touches the turn signal cancel cam assembly. Secure the assembly with the two pan head tapping screws (Pan Head Tapping Screw), tightening the top screw to 3 Nm (27 inch lbs.) Secure the two pan head tapping screws using 7 Nm torque (62 inch lbs.) for the side screw and 3 Nm (27 inch lbs.) for the top screw. Insert both connectors (Turn Signal and Multifunction Switch Assembly) into the Bulkhead Connector before connecting the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly connector to the SIR coil connector. Reposition the steering column wire harness assembly within the abrasion sleeve by aligning wires from the ignition lock cylinder case in their proper position before reinstalling the sleeve. Reinstall the wire harness assembly (Wire Harness Assembly) into the wire harness strap (Wire Harness Strap) before putting back upper and lower trim covers and activating the SIR system.
