GMC Yukon XL 1500 Pilot Bearing Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the pilot bearing on GMC Yukon XL 1500?
A: The tool requirements for Pilot Bearing replacement include a clutch Pilot Bearing remover (J 43276) along with a pilot bushing installer/clutch (J 38836). Transport the vehicle elevated above the ground then take out the manual Transmission Assembly unit. The next step requires removing the clutch Pressure Plate together with the Clutch Disc from the Flywheel. The vehicle repair technician must use clutch Pilot Bearing remover (J 43276) to remove the clutch Pilot Bearing. Use a wrench to secure the tool body of clutch Pilot Bearing remover (J 43276-1) before inserting the j 43276-1 into the clutch Pilot Bearing. Complete the removal of the clutch Pilot Bearing from the Crankshaft by turning the j 43276-2 and j 43276-1 together in a clockwise direction. Only keep the Pilot Bearing unless removal is complete then dispose accordingly. The installation process should begin by definitively removing the Flywheel spacer when needed. Align the 5/8 inch washer onto the pilot bushing installer/clutch (J 38836) and position the new Pilot Bearing onto the tool. The pilot bushing installer/clutch (J 38836) should be used for implementing the new Pilot Bearing into the Crankshaft. A correct installation should be inspected afterward. Reinstall the Pressure Plate along with the Clutch Disc onto the Flywheel and attach the manual transmission before lowering the vehicle back onto the floor.
