Converter & Pipe

The first step to replace a Catalytic Converter (LE5 With MH8) on a 2.4l non hybrid vehicle requires vehicle lifting and support. Remove the heated Oxygen Sensor. You need to detach the Exhaust Pipe from Catalytic Converter studs by first removing its muffler nuts; then relocate the Exhaust Pipe out of position. Begin by removing the converter bracket bolt and motioning the Catalytic Converter away from the exhaust manifold through the removal of all converter to exhaust manifold nuts . Dispose of both gaskets. A new gasket goes on the Catalytic Converter before you place it between exhaust manifold and converter bracket. Next, install converter to manifold nuts and converter bracket bolt loosely. Screw the converter to manifold nuts to 25 nm (18 lb ft) while the converter to bracket bolt requires 30 nm (22 lb ft). Install a fresh gasket between the converter and Exhaust Pipe , connect the Exhaust Pipe to the converter and tighten its nuts to 25 nm (18 lb ft). After completing the process install the heated Oxygen Sensor while lowering the vehicle.
