Shift Control Cable

Start service and repair of the Shift Cable at the console shift control by detaching the automatic transaxle range selector cable from wiring harness retainers found in the engine compartment. Pull the console from its position after which you can reveal the cable beneath the carpet. The service and repair of the cable at the console shift control starts with retainer removal from its passenger compartment placement followed by disengaging the cable retainer from the console shift control and finally removing the cable itself from the console shift control. The cable extends through the cowl hole before being separated from its manual shaft connection. Installation of the automatic transaxle range selector cable demands accurate routing before inserting it through the cowl hole to reach the manual shaft. Set the cable into the console shift control bracket and join it to the console shift control before activating the cable retainer. Reinstall the cable to its retainers within the passenger compartment followed by reinstalling carpet and console. Adjust the automatic transaxle range selector cable after installing it to the wiring harness retainers inside the engine compartment.

Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable retainer from the stud in the engine compartment.

Attach it to the automatic transaxle range selector cable bracket, the automatic transaxle range selector lever, and the retainers.

Align the end fittings to slide together until they cam and lock.

Set the transaxle and shift control to Neutral.
