    The first step for replacing the range selector lever cable in 6T30/6T40/6T45 automatic transmission involves setting the park brake and applying wheel chocks. Deactivate the transmission range selector lever cable terminal from its connection to the transmission manual shift lever pin before pressing the locking tabs inward so the cable can be safely removed from its cable bracket. Push the locking tabs inward again after removing the console so that the cable can release from the cable bracket . To remove the transmission range selector lever cable it must be detached from the shifter cable adjuster lock after opening the internal lock. Then the technician must remove the transmission range selector lever cable grommet from the cowl panel before extracting the cable out of the vehicle. After placing the new transmission range selector lever cable into the vehicle position the grommet on the cowl panel. Slide the cable until the locking tab on the shifter cable adjustable lock fully seats up against the housing while using a tool to reach proper seat position. After you attach the cable to the transmission shifter base you must reinstall the console before connecting the transmission range selector lever cable to its cable bracket. Safely attach the transmission range selector lever cable terminal to the transmission manual shift lever pin with consideration for having both the shift lever and shifter in the Park position. Verify that the shift cable adjustable lock properly secures itself and rests in position.
