How to replace the torsion bar and support assembly (bushing style) on Chevrolet Silverado 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the Torsion Bar and support assembly (Bushing style) first raise and support the vehicle by the frame and avoid the front suspension. Use the j 36202 (Torsion Bar Unloading/Loading Tool) to attach to the adjustment arm and crossmember, take up the tension of the adjustment arm until the load ends on the adjustment bolt and adjuster nut and mark the adjustment bolt and count the turns for unloading. Then, remove the adjustment bolt and adjustment nut from the crossmember, and then remove the j 36202 to unload the Torsion Bar. Slide the Torsion Bar forward to pull the adjustment part, then, take out the bolt of the Torsion Bar crossmember bolt form the weld nut as well as remove the crossmember from the crossmember mount. Lastly, remove the Torsion Bar from the crossmember, which is the left and right Torsion Bar are not interchangeable. For installation, mount the Torsion Bar in a lower Control Arm and bolt it on the cross member in cross member mount. Put in the Torsion Bar crossmember bolt through the weld nut and tighten it to 110 nm (81 lb ft). Then, fix the adjustment arm in the crossmember, then drill fixing holes for adjuster bolt and adjuster nut. Make sure that the Torsion Bar is completely seated in the adjustment arm and then use the j 36202 to load the Torsion Bar by tightening the adjustment arm with some tension. Turn the adjuster bolt to the same number of turns required in turning it to disengage it, then remove the j 36202 from the crossmember. Finally, take off the safety stands and lower the vehicle, and get the z height measurement.

How to replace the torsion bar on Chevrolet Silverado 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before you replace the Torsion Bar, first lift and prop up the vehicle. Handle the torsion bars carefully so as not to damage the coating, which is likely to cause premature failure. Mount the Torsion Bar unloading/loading tool (J 36202) to the adjustment arm and crossmember, and tighten head bolt on adjustment arm until the load is taken off from the adjustment bolt and adjuster nut. Take off the adjustment bolt, and the adjuster nut, making sure to mark the adjustment bolt, counting the number of turns that are necessary to remove. In the case of vehicles with mn8, mt1, and mw3, take a repeat for the removal of the adjustment bolt and adjuster nut. After the removal of the j 36202, then unloading of the Torsion Bar, slide the Torsion Bar forward in removing the adjustment arm being supported. Then remove the Torsion Bar crossmember bolts from the weld nuts (follow by top linking to the nuts and bolts and then removing the Torsion Bar crossmember and the torsion bars write down where you put them left and right as they are different. To install, start by installing the torsion bars to the lower Control Arm and the Torsion Bar crossmember from the other side by then applying the Torsion Bar crossmember bolts to the weld nuts then tightening to 95 nm (70 ft. Lbs.). Mount the upper link nuts and bolts with the nut being tighten to 95 nm (70 ft. Lbs.). With the support of the adjustment arm, slide the Torsion Bar rearward to its full engagement with the adjustment arm, reinstall the j 36202 to the adjustment arm and crossmember, increasing the tension to load the Torsion Bar. Install adjustment bolt and adjuster nut making sure the adjustment bolt is installed to readjust back the same number of turns as done while removing it. Repeat installation of both the adjustment bolt and the adjuster nut for vehicles that have mn8, mt1, and mw3. Finally remove the j 36202, release the tension on the Torsion Bar until the adjustment bolt accepts the load, take off the safety stands, lower the vehicle and where necessary adjust adjusting bolt to change the z height from a counter-clockwise position to increase and to.clockwise to decrease.

    Q:
How to replace the torsion bar and support assembly (Link Style) on GMC Sierra 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Vehicle support starts with lifting and frame stabilization above the front suspension. Handle the torsion bars with care while installing new parts due to coating damage that results in shortened lifespan. Place the j 36202 (Torsion Bar Unloading/Loading Tool) onto the adjustment arm and support assembly. You should verify that the adjustment bolt and adjuster nut become loose when you steadily increase the tension on the adjustment arm while noting the total number of turns it takes to make the adjustment bolt loose. After removing the adjustment bolt and adjuster nut from the support assembly continue by removing the j 36202 tool to unload the Torsion Bar. After sliding the Torsion Bar forward remove the adjustment arm from the support assembly followed by upper link mounting bolt and nut from the link to remove the Torsion Bar support assembly. Due to their design differences torsion bars from the left and right sides do not match each other. To install the Torsion Bar position it first in the lower Control Arm and support assembly but always follow fastener cautions. Tighten the upper link mounting nut and bolt to 95 nm (70 lb ft) in the link's assembly . The next step requires installation of the adjustment arm into the support assembly before installing the adjuster bolt and adjustment nut. Push the Torsion Bar all the way back until it is completely seated in the adjustment arm before reattaching the support assembly and j 36202 bolt. The reference marks must match up before tightening the adjuster bolt to match the previous rotation count. Remove j 36202 and remove the safety stand before lowering the vehicle to measure z height.

How to replace the torsion bar on GMC Yukon XL 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To change the Torsion Bar, first, lift and secure the vehicle. Connect the Torsion Bar unloading/loading tool (J 36202) to the adjustment arm and the cross members, and then pull the adjustment arm to the point that the tension is relieved from the adjustment bolt and the adjuster nut. Mark the adjustment bolt and turn the number of turns required to eliminate the bolt. Next, take off and adjuster nut and then the adjustment bolt for mn8, mt1 and mw3. Having removed the j 36202, let it release and slide it out forward, releasing the adjustment arm and supporting it. First, you need to remove all bolts from the and the Torsion Bar crossmember weld nuts and then the upper links nuts and bolts followed by the removal of Torsion Bar cross member taking note of the position of the left Torsion Bar and right Torsion Bar as they differ. For installation, install the torsion bars on to the lower Control Arm, and install Torsion Bar cross member. Secure the Torsion Bar crossmember bolts to the weld nuts and torque them to 95 nm (70 ft. Lbs.). Then attach the upper mount nuts and bolts, tighten the nut to 95 nm (70 ft lbs.). Moving to the support of the adjustment arm, slide the Torsion Bar rearward until it is complete and attached the j 36202 to the adjustment arm and the crossmember. Tighten up the tension in the adjustment arm in order to load the Torsion Bar, and put in the adjustment bolt and adjuster nut, making sure you use the same number of turns as you removed. Finally, retract the j36202 and leave the tension on the Torsion Bar to be consumed by the adjustment bolt, remove the safe stands, and lower the vehicle down another control the z height, if the z height is low to be raised, twist the adjustment bolt clockwise or to increase z height or to lower z height twist the adjustment bolt counterclockwise.
