    Q:
How to replace the rack and pinion boot and breather tube using the J 22610 Keystone Clamp Pliers on Chevrolet Colorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
For boot and breather tube off-vehicle replacement work, employ j 22610 keystone clamp pliers (J 22610). The first step involves removing the outer tie rod then the hexagon jam nut on the inner tie rod assembly. Begin by removing the tie rod end clamp from the Rack and Pinion Boot but keep the side cutters for boot clamp removal. Cut the boot clamp with the side cutters then discard the clamp before moving forward. The team should label the breather tube's position on the gear assembly before they take off both the breather tube and Rack and Pinion Boot. To finish installation fit a new boot clamp onto the Rack and Pinion Boot then apply grease to both the inner tie rod assembly and the Rack And Pinion gear assembly before putting the Rack and Pinion Boot onto the inner tie rod assembly. Reinstall breather tubes according to their removal markings on the molded nipple of the Rack and Pinion Boot. The Rack and Pinion Boot must remain free of twists or puckers during installation. Manual adjustment of the boot positioning is needed before inserting it into the gear assembly groove. Use the j 22610 keystone clamp pliers (J 22610) to secure the boot clamp onto the Rack and Pinion Boot. Then crimp the clamp while the tool is clamped to install the tie rod end clamp onto the Rack and Pinion Boot. Finally secure the hexagon jam nut to the inner tie rod assembly to finish building the outer tie rod assembly.

    Q:
How to Change the Rack and Pinion Boot on a GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
Use the keystone clamp pliers (J 22610) to detach the outer tie rod before beginning Rack and Pinion Boot and breather tube replacement. The third step requires hexagon jam nut removal from the inner tie rod assembly while you also dismount the tie rod end clamp from the Rack and Pinion Boot. Side cutters allow practitioners to eliminate boot clamp from the Rack and Pinion Boot for disposal. Before you remove the Rack and Pinion Boot, mark the breather tube position on the gear assembly if it exists. Check the inner tie rod for contamination and corrosion after taking away the boot. Carry out the repair if you don't find any signs of trouble. Take away the Rack and Pinion Boot and the breather tube, if present, from the Rack And Pinion gear assembly. During assembly place a new boot clamp on the Rack and Pinion Boot and treat both the inner tie rod assembly and Rack And Pinion gear assembly with grease before placing the Rack and Pinion Boot on the inner tie rod assembly. Place the breather tube in position by aligning it to the marked spot and the molded unit on the Rack and Pinion Boot. The Rack and Pinion Boot requires proper placement without any twisting deformities or folds. The keystone clamp pliers (J 22610) assists in boot clamp installation. Before this process, necessary adjustments must be made. Using the keystone clamp pliers pinch together the pliers while applying them to the Rack and Pinion Boot to install the tie rod end clamp to the Rack and Pinion Boot subsequently secure the process by adding the hexagon jam nut to the inner tie rod assembly.

    Q:
How to replace the rack and pinion boot and breather tube on GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin Rack and Pinion Boot and breather tube replacement by using keystone clamp pliers (J 22610) to extract the outer tie rod. Start by unscrewing both the hexagon jam nut on the inner tie rod assembly and the tie rod end clamp on the Rack and Pinion Boot. Copper side cutters allow you to remove and dispose of the boot clamp which is found on the Rack and Pinion Boot. Before removing the Rack and Pinion Boot, mark all breather tube placements on the gear assembly. Check the inner tie rod for signs of either corrosion or contamination after the boot removal process. The repair should begin even if there are no present signs of contamination or damage. To begin the repair, remove both the Rack and Pinion Boot and any breather tube which may exist from the Rack And Pinion gear assembly. New boot clamp installation precedes Rack and Pinion Boot application to the inner tie rod assembly following inner tie rod assembly and Rack And Pinion gear assembly grease application. Install the breather tube after proper alignment with both the marked boot area and its molded nipple on the Rack and Pinion Boot. The Rack and Pinion Boot should not present twisted or puckered formations during installation. Adjust the boot by hand before using the keystone clamp pliers (J 22610) to install the boot clamp. Use the keystone clamp pliers (J 22610) to pinch and clamp the boot from the Rack and Pinion Boot while attaching the tie rod end clamp to the Rack and Pinion Boot. The process finishes by applying the hexagon jam nut to the inner tie rod assembly.
