    Q:
How to Replace the Shift Linkage Boot on Chevrolet Colorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step for control lever and boot replacement involves taking out both the shift lever assembly and console component if present. The next step includes screw removal from the control lever boot then tilting this boot away from the control lever to separate them. First set the transmission to neutral position before removing the control lever housing assembly bolts which detach the assembly together with its gasket. Users must apply masking over the control lever housing opening before inspecting it to block any transmission entry of foreign objects. Also separate the control lever housing for assembly work. The first step of installation requires reassembly of the control lever housing unless it was already disassembled. After removing the masking material from the control lever opening check that the sealing surface is both clean and dry. Install the transmission control lever gasket while positioning the control lever housing assembly into the opening with the bushing aligned to the internal shift control lever. Fasten the control lever housing assembly bolts by tightening them to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Pute the boot over the control lever while inspecting to make sure carpet material does not block the boot from touching the floor panel. Then drop the boot to create proper floor contact. The control lever boot requires installation followed by screw tightening to 2.5 nm (22 inch lbs.) before putting back the console and shift lever assembly.

    Q:
How to replace the control lever and Shift Linkage Boot on Chevrolet Colorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the control lever and shift boot, first one must remove the shift lever assembly (D06 or W/O D06). For vehicles without d06 take out the console. Then, remove the screws out of the control lever boot and tip the boot in order to detach it from the control lever. Shift the transmission into neutral then loosen the control lever housing assembly bolts and pull the housing assembly and the gasket out. Mask off the control lever housing opening to prevent debris from entering the transmission, and dismantle control lever housing if necessary. For installation, reassemble the control lever housing in case it was disassembled, remove the masking and clean up or dry the sealing surface. Set the control lever gasket onto the transmission while ensuring that the control lever housing assembly falls into line through the opening of the control lever assembly while doing so aligning the bushing with the internal shift control lever. Mount the control lever housing assembly bolts and torque the bolts with a torque of 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Prop the boot into place over the control lever, making sure the carpet is not caught between the boot and the floor panel, then tilt the boot to properly fit against the floor. Mount the control lever boot screws and tighten them to 2.5 n.m (22 lb in). Finally, reinstall the console if necessary and the shift lever assembly (D06 or W/O D06).

    Q:
How to Replace the Shift Linkage Boot on GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace the control lever and shift boot requires shifting out both the shift lever assembly and console (if present). The first step involves removing the control lever boot screws which enables you to separate the boot from the lever. Put the transmission in neutral position before taking out the bolts from the control lever housing assembly for complete removal of the housing along with the gasket. For protection from transmission entry of foreign materials apply the masking to the control lever housing opening. Then remove the control lever housing if necessary for disassembly. Installation includes cleaning and drying the sealing surface and reattaching the control lever housing only if you disassembled it. Also remove the masking before proceeding. Install the control lever housing assembly onto the transmission structure by fitting the bolts to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) of torque value. Position the boot over the control lever while checking that no carpet material separates the boot from the floor panel and gently tilt it for correct seating. Install the control lever boot screws before putting back the console (if present) but first reinstall the shift lever assembly. Secure the boot screws to 2.5 nm (22 inch lbs.).

    Q:
How to Properly Install a Shift Linkage Boot on GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
The initial step for control lever and boot replacement involves removing the shift lever assembly according to model versions without d06 or with d06. The console removal process starts after removing the d06 from the models without this feature. You should free up the control lever boot by unscrewing its screws before gently tilting it away from the lever. After placing the transmission in neutral (N) position remove the bolts from the control lever housing assembly and then discard the assembly with its gasket. Put protective covering on the control lever housing aperture to avoid foreign entry to the transmission and remove the control lever housing assembly when necessary. The installer should begin by reassembling disassembled control lever housing when needed along with removing the masking and cleaning and drying the sealing surface. The control lever gasket should be placed on the transmission while the control lever housing assembly should be positioned through the opening with the bushing aligned to the internal shift control lever before tightening the housing assembly bolts to 20 nm (15 lb ft). Set the boot over the control lever but make sure carpet does not obstruct its position next to the floor panel before tilting the boot to fit properly to the floor. Secure the control lever boot screws with torque of 2.5 nm (22 lb in) and replace the console when appropriate. To complete the installation you need to install the shift lever assembly with or without d06 option.
