Throttle Cable

One must start the process by uninstalling the fuel injector sight shield and the left instrument panel sound insulator. Secure the throttle cable away from the accelerator pedal by using mechanics wire for future new cable installation. The throttle cable cover tangs should be pinched to pass the cable through the cowl until it frees itself from both retaining clips and the throttle body lever as well as the throttle cable bracket. Note the cable path for reinstall while you remove the cable from your vehicle. Secure all flexible components of the new cable by attaching mechanics wire during installation while preventing any part from entering the 50 mm (2 in) range of moving elements. Install the new throttle cable following the original routing pattern during removal and pass it through the cowl then remove the mechanics wire. The throttle cable requires attachment to accelerator pedal lever and throttle body lever and throttle cable bracket with proper installation of retaining clips. You must verify complete throttle control by moving the pedal during operation. After this, check that the carpet fits properly where the pedal rests and then reinstall the sound insulator panel and sight shield.

A replacement of the throttle cable demands first removal of the injector sight shield and left instrument panel sound insulator. The throttle cable requires detachment from the accelerator pedal by carefully pushing through the bulkhead while pressing the cable cover tangs. After disconnecting the cable first from the retaining clips and then from the throttle body lever and throttle cable bracket remove it from the vehicle while checking the cable route for installation. Installation should include securing flexible system components when routing them at least 50 mm (2 in) from moving parts to avoid interference or damage. The throttle requires free movement without any constraints when it moves from complete closure to wide-open position. Fit the throttle cable according to the verified routing before inserting it through the bulkhead and placing the snap retainer in the bulkhead position. The throttle cable should pass through the slot on the accelerator pedal lever before seating the snap retainer. Complete throttle operation should be checked by testing the accelerator pedal while confirming that carpet material near the pedal does not cause any interference. After securing the throttle cable to the throttle body lever and the throttle cable bracket you should install it in both retaining clips. Reinstall both the left instrument panel sound insulator along with the injector sight shield.

The initial step for throttle cable replacement involves removing the fuel injector sight shield together with the left instrument panel sound insulator. Complete throttle control needs checking through accelerator pedal movement while inspecting the carpet condition below the pedal before reinstalling both the left instrument panel sound insulator and the fuel injector sight shield.

Attach the mechanics wire to the new cable and route it as noted during removal.

Use a piece of mechanics wire to assist in installing the new cable.

Reinstall the left instrument panel sound insulator.

Detach the accelerator cable from the accelerator pedal.

Disconnect the accelerator cable from the accelerator pedal, then squeeze the accelerator cable cover tangs and push the accelerator cable through the bulkhead.

Remove the accelerator cable shield.
