Throttle Cable

The replacement of the Throttle Cable starts by removing the left sound insulator. The cable of the pedal lever assembly must have its tangs momentarily depressed for easy removal from the assembly. The installation process should remove both cruise control cable and Throttle Cable if applicable. Detach the Throttle Cable lug from the Throttle Body assembly then stroke the tangs on the Throttle Cable before pulling it through the Throttle Cable bracket. Detach the Throttle Cable at its support clip while removing the cable from the vehicle. To install the Throttle Cable users need to direct the cable through the Throttle Cable bracket before pressing tabs into the bracket while ensuring tang expansion for proper bracket seating. Fasten the control cable lug to the Throttle Body cam then join the Throttle Cable to the support clip. Mount the cruise control cable when necessary before mounting the cable onto the pedal lever assembly while checking that both tangs have achieved full expansion inside their sockets. Put the Throttle Cable through the slot on the accelerator pedal rod before adding the retainer while checking for proper seat. Test the complete cable insertion into the throttle cam beyond retaining clips while monitoring the throttle valve positions during accelerator pedal use; check damaged or bent brackets or levers when wot position does not occur. Any routing of flexible components, hoses, wires, and conduits needs positive control measures to avoid placements within 50 mm (2.0 in) from moving parts of the throttle linkage outboard support. Reinstall the left sound insulator as the last step.

The removal process for the left sound insulator begins first steps before replacing the Throttle Cable. Depress the Throttle Cable tangs from the pedal lever assembly while you remove the cable from its position on the assembly. The replacement process includes removing the cruise control cable in case it is installed. Remove the connector at the Throttle Body assembly that secures the Throttle Cable then lower the Throttle Cable tangs to pull the cable through its bracket. The support clip must be disconnected from the Throttle Cable after which the cable needs to be taken out of the vehicle. Directions for installation require the driver to guide the Throttle Cable through the Throttle Cable bracket and apply pressure on tabs to expand the inner tangs for proper bracket insertion. Installation of the control cable lug on the Throttle Body cam must be followed by connection of the Throttle Cable to the support clip. Implement cruise control cables by first adding the assembly to the pedal lever then expanding tangs completely before seating them properly. The Throttle Cable needs to pass through the accelerator pedal rod slot before installing the retainer while making sure it sits properly inside. Position the throttle cam cable fully beyond both retainers. All flexible components and hose assemblies and wires must be placed at least 50 mm (2.0 in) away from the moving parts of the throttle linkage outboard support unless the routing system has proper control measures. Verifying proper open and close positions requires operating the accelerator pedal to check the throttle valve gets to wide open throttle (WOT) position before finishing with left sound insulator replacement.
